Abelard Boregard
Backup Dancer
Abel as his closest friends call him, was just another nobody from Saarbrücken, when he decided at the age of 15 he wanted to be famous. He packed his one bag and grabbed his mom’s paintbrushes and moved to Berlin where he paid his rent working in the streets as a caricature painter. He gained recognition from the locals and was asked to paint a mural in the Berlin subway system. At age 19, he had his first showing at the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, Germany’s most famous art museum. This was the height of his career and he left painting to, “pick up another type of brush,” as he put it. He doubled his fame by becoming the most requested makeup artist in Europe. He has done the makeup for several of today’s supermodels and even witnessed an “alleged” cell phone meltdown. He worked in many of the fashion houses in Munich and that is where Yan and Abelard met and became close friends. Hans needed one more person to make the band work and felt like Abelard would be perfect since he could dance, sing, and do the makeup for the band while they were touring and filming. Abelard was asked recently why he gave up his makeup artistry to be in Der Aresenics and he replied, “You’ve obviously never had dance time, have you?”
