As the lead singer of Der Aresenics, Hans is at the core of the band’s worldwide popularity. After a glowing review of their first album by the German newspaper Ärzte Zeitung, the ever-humble Hans just laughed and said, “Now dance time!”
Growing up in the big city of Berlin, Hans didn’t fit in with the other boys and girls. He was the edgy artsy kid who wanted to dance and didn’t care where or when just so long as he was able. His one faithful friend was Balthazar (his German Shepherd). Balthazar and Hans were inseparable. One day, Hans and Balthazar went to visit an elderly neighbor. The found the man upset and on the verge of panic because he had mixed up his medicines and taken too much of one. Hans didn’t know what to do, but Balthazar raced to get the phone. As soon as Hans saw the Poison Help sticker on it he understood that he should call the number. Hans, with help from Balthazar and the Poison Center, saved the neighbor. This traumatic event from his childhood is the inspiration behind his hit song, Poison Is Bad. Hans is a staunch supporter of Poison Centers and passionately crusades to make sure everyone has the Poison Help number. Being the playboy that he is, Hans has never married, but those closest to him say he is often caught admiring Beyonce, Scary Spice (of the Spice Girls), and Tyra Banks.
